The River Valley Vikings had already won six in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.5 points), and they went ahead and made it seven on Saturday. They walked away with a 47-39 win over Pleasant. Given River Valley's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 54th, while the Spartans are ranked 342nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
River Valley's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Chase Ebert led the charge by scoring 14 points. Ebert continues to roll, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Carson Smith, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
Pleasant lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Wiley Smith, who scored 15 points. Smith has been hot recently, having posted 15 or more points the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Lathan McCants, who scored nine points.
River Valley is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 11-3 record this season. As for Pleasant, their defeat was their sixth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-8.
River Valley will take on the Bulldogs at 7:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Bloom-Carroll will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak. As for Pleasant, they will head out on the road to take on the Colts at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. Clear Fork has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 247 points over their last four contests.
