Basketball Recap: Central Takes a Loss

Central lost against Macon County back in February and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Monday. The Hawks fell 80-68 to the Bulldogs. The Hawks have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Loss or not, Central got some senior leadership from Brannon Bussey and Jamarion Williams. Bussey went 10-for-12 to rack up 35 points in addition to seven boards and three steals, while Williams shot 60% from the field on his way to 18 points along with six rebounds and four blocks. The matchup was Bussey's sixth in a row with at least 15 points. Brody Leonard was another key player, shooting 71% from the field en route to 10 points and seven assists.

Macon County found their leader in sophomore Tarigee Collier, who went 12-for-21 on his way to 30 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Quentrelle Perkins, who posted 17 points along with six rebounds and five steals.

Central suffered their first home defeat, dropping their record down to 3-3. As for Macon County, they pushed their record up to 4-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.

Central and Furlow Charter School will compete for holiday cheer at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Macon County, they won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Chattahoochee County at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bulldogs will need to watch out since the Panthers have now posted at least 55 points in their last six contests.
