The Peabody Golden Tide lost against the Huntingdon Mustangs back in October of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Peabody was dealt a 48-14 loss at the hands of Huntingdon. While losing is never fun, Peabody can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee football rankings (they are ranked 205th, while Huntingdon is ranked 55th).
Huntingdon's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Ashton Hutcherson, who rushed for 153 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries. Hutcherson was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 67 yards. Brady Warbritton also deserves a shout-out for his two touchdowns.
Huntingdon's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB ten times. It was a group effort, with three picking up two apiece.
This is the second loss in a row for Peabody and nudges their season record down to 4-6. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 8-2 Milan (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 85% over those games). As for Huntingdon, the victory (which was their ninth in a row) raised their record to 9-1.
Peabody will head out on the road to face off against Loretto at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Loretto will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. Huntingdon will take on Waverly Central at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
