The Upper Cape Cod RVT Rams fought the good fight in their overtime contest against the Avon Panthers on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 62-61 to the Panthers. Upper Cape Cod RVT has been going strong on the season, but this is now their second loss in a row.
Avon got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Josiah Guerrier out in front who scored 14 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks. Guerrier is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last six games he's played. Another player making a difference was Thomas Edwards, who scored 14 points along with six rebounds.
Upper Cape Cod RVT's loss dropped their record down to 6-3. As for Avon, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 10-0.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Upper Cape Cod RVT will challenge Sturgis West at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Avon won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Falmouth Academy at 4:00 p.m. on January 19th. Falmouth Academy has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
