The Smithville Seminoles were the 45-34 winner over the Tremont Eagles when they last played one another back in February, but their luck changed this time around. The match between both teams wasn't particularly close, with Smithville falling 39-22. They have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Several Seminoles players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Mary Haley Hood, who scored 6 points along with 9 rebounds. Hood scored a full 27.3% of Smithville's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mikayla Wall, who scored 4 points.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Smithville struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Tremont racked up 11.
Among those leading the charge was Saige Black, who scored 13 points along with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. The match was her fifth in a row with at least ten points. Kara George was another key contributor, scoring 9 points.
Smithville has not been sharp recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. As for Tremont, they now have a winning record of 4-3-1.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Smithville's road trip will continue as they head out to face Mantachie at 6:00 p.m. on December 5th. Mantachie will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak. As for Tremont, they will head out on the road to face off against Wheeler at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Mississippi (Wheeler is ranked 113th, while Tremont is ranked 129th).
