Rushford-Peterson took a loss when they played away from home on Tuesday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Thursday. They put the hurt on Cotter with a sharp 3-0 win. Give some credit to the fans of both teams: the last four times they've met, the home team has come away the winner.
Houston extended their home winning streak to three games thanks to a huge performance from Jorja Meyer. The Hurricanes came out on top against Kingsland by a score of 3-1 on Thursday with plenty of help from Meyer, who had nine kills, six aces, four digs, and two blocks. She is on a roll when it comes to aces, as she's now served two or more in each of the last four games she's played.
The final score came out to 25-20, 25-16, 13-25, 25-23.
Rushford-Peterson better focus on containing Olivia Yohe and Emmie Melbo as the pair were huge in Houston's win. Yohe had 27 assists and five digs, while Melbo had nine kills, nine digs, and one block. Lydia Pedretti was another key player, getting eight kills, three digs, and one block.
Houston's victory bumped their record up to 9-11. As for Rushford-Peterson, their win bumped their record up to 9-2.
Everything went Rushford-Peterson's way against Houston when the teams last played back in September of 2024, as Rushford-Peterson made off with a 3-0 victory. Will the Trojans repeat their success, or do the Hurricanes have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
