The Charlotte Fightin' Tarpons typically have all the answers at home, but on Friday the Orlando Christian Prep Warriors proved too difficult a challenge. They snuck past the Fightin' Tarpons with a 50-46 win. Given Orlando Christian Prep's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 12th, while Charlotte is ranked 117th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Ameer Ramadan was his usual excellent self, scoring 26 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jemeh Jones, who scored seven points along with five rebounds.
Charlotte's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Jordan Attia, who scored 14 points. Another player making a difference was Jordan Taylor, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds.
Orlando Christian Prep is on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-2 record this season. As for Charlotte, they now have a losing record at 9-10.
Orlando Christian Prep won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Westminster Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 20th. One thing working in Westminster Academy's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season. As for Charlotte, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Port Charlotte at 10:20 a.m. on Saturday. Port Charlotte will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.
