Sullivan is 0-3 against Dieterich since December of 2018 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Thursday. The Sullivan Redskins just played last night, but they'll still head out to face the Dieterich Movin Maroons at 7:00 p.m. on December 28th. Sullivan will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.
On Wednesday, Sullivan was able to grind out a solid win over Farina South Central, taking the game 37-27.
Dieterich has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six matches by 21 points or more this season. They ended the year with a bang, routing Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City 62-39. Given Dieterich's advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 258th, while Cowden-Herrick/Beecher City is ranked 565th), the result on Wednesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sullivan's win bumped their record up to 12-3. As for Dieterich, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-4.
Things could have been worse for Sullivan, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 54-35 loss to Dieterich in their previous matchup back in December of 2022. Can Sullivan avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
