The Neuse Charter Cougars's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 58-42 bruising from East Wake Academy. The contest was a 27-27 toss-up at halftime, but Neuse Charter was blown out by East Wake Academy in the second.
Neuse Charter's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Donolyjah Tyrell, who scored 11 points along with 5 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayson James, who scored 7 points along with 8 rebounds.
Neuse Charter has fallen quite a ways from their 26-5 record last season and are now at 2-7. As for East Wake Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-3.
Neuse Charter will head out on the road to face off against Vance Charter at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. East Wake Academy will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Oxford Prep at 7:30 p.m. on December 11th.
