The Wichita County Indians will square off against the Cheylin Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Wichita County took care of business in their home opener on Friday. They took down Elkhart 64-47.
Among those leading the charge was Christopher Michel, who dropped a double-double on 27 points and 12 rebounds. Leonardo Alvarado was another key contributor, scoring 5 points along with 8 rebounds.
Meanwhile, even though Wallace County scored an imposing 59 points on Tuesday, Cheylin still came out on top. Cheylin strolled past Wallace County with points to spare, taking the game 78-59.
Cheylin's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Pablo Bermudez, who scored 30 points along with 5 assists and 5 steals. That makes it two consecutive games in which Bermudez has scored at least 25% of Cheylin's points. Another player making a difference was Brady Ketzner, who scored 17 points along with 6 steals.
Wichita County's win bumped their record up to 1-0. As for Cheylin, the victory got them back to even at 1-1.
Wichita County came up short against Cheylin in their previous meeting back in January, falling 48-43. Can Wichita County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
