Houghton dropped their record down to 13-13 on Thursday, which also ended the team's three-game streak of wins. They lost 10-0 to the Petoskey Northmen. The Gremlins were red-hot at the plate heading into the matchup (they scored no less than ten runs in the three contests prior), but the Northmen's pitchers proved too tough.

As for Petoskey, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 29-7. The result was nothing new for the Northmen, who have now won 13 games by seven runs or more so far this season.

For Petoskey's part, Bre VerCautren was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out ten over five innings pitched. VerCautren has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 17 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexis Cadarette, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases and two runs. Lyla Janes was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

As of now, neither Houghton nor Petoskey have any future games scheduled.
