Athens Christian fell victim to Rabun County's stalwart defense on Friday and couldn't make it onto the board. They were beaten by the Wildcats 38-0. While losing is never fun, Athens Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 458th, while Rabun County is ranked 115th).
Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, Elbert County's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They were outmatched by Commerce at home and fell 49-21. Elbert County was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-7.
Jacari Barnett put forth a good effort for the losing side as he rushed for 98 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.
The losses dropped Athens Christian to 0-8 and Elbert County to 7-2.
Athens Christian took a serious blow against Elbert County when the teams last played back in October of 2022, falling 40-13. Thankfully for Athens Christian, Quan Moss (who rushed for 105 yards and four touchdowns) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? There's only one way to find out.
