Jacob Morris was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he tossed five innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in April. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Gavin Neal, who got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in April. Rigg Mahurin was another key player, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Meanwhile, Rushville was not the first on the board on Saturday, but they got there more often. They came out on top against Oldenburg Academy by a score of 4-1. The victory continues a trend for the Lions in their matchups with the Twisters: they've now won three in a row.
Trey Newman was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two doubles and one RBI. Hunter Cowan also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Rushville was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .379. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
New Palestine pushed their record up to 20-3 with the win, which was their third straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Rushville, their win bumped their record up to 6-15.
