Caruthers is 2-0 against Chowchilla since November of 2021, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Caruthers Blue Raiders will head out on the road to face off against the Chowchilla Tribe at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Caruthers' favor is that they have now posted big point totals in their last six matches.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Caruthers on the road against Yosemite as the squad secured a 44-7 win. The result was nothing new for Caruthers, who have now won six games by 28 points or more so far this season.
Hunter Babb continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 262 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 carries, while also throwing for 26 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Babb is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last eight games he's played.
Meanwhile, even though Minarets scored an imposing 31 points on Friday, Chowchilla still came out on top. Chowchilla enjoyed a cozy 49-31 win over Minarets. The win was nothing new for Chowchilla as they're now sitting on three straight.
Chowchilla's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Dwayne Hemphill led the charge by rushing for 145 yards and two touchdowns on only 15 carries, while also picking up 104 receiving yards. Another player making a difference was Dellvonta Vaughn, who rushed for 148 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries.
Caruthers' win was their third straight on the road, which bumped their overall record up to 6-2. They've been dominating across those matches too: they took their wins by an average of 31 points. Chowchilla has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season.
Everything came up roses for Caruthers against Chowchilla when the teams last played back in October of 2022 as the team secured a 49-12 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Caruthers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
