With a playoff game on the line, Cornerstone Prep Academy rose to the challenge on Monday. They came out on top against the Paladins by a score of 64-51. This was payback for Cornerstone Prep Academy, who suffered a 74-71 defeat the last time these two teams met.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cornerstone Prep Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Simeon Greene, who scored 20 points along with seven rebounds and five steals. Greene is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last eight games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Ben Cobb, who almost dropped a double-double on 19 points and nine rebounds.
Pinecrest Academy lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Joe Frain, who scored 13 points along with seven rebounds. Another player making a difference was Johnny Lynch, who scored 16 points along with five rebounds.
Cornerstone Prep Academy now has a winning record of 10-9. As for Pinecrest Academy, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-14.
Cornerstone Prep Academy won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against The King's Academy at 8:30 p.m. on February 6th. Cornerstone Prep Academy is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 64.7 points per game this season. Pinecrest Academy does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
