Wahama is on an 11-game streak of home wins, while Hoover is on a four-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The White Falcons will host the Huskies at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
On Friday, Wahama got the win against Poca by a conclusive 10-2.
Audrey Reynolds was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 1-for-1. Kalyn Christian was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Hoover made easy work of Sissonville on Friday and carried off an 8-1 victory. The win continues a trend for the Huskies in their matchups with the Indians: they've now won four in a row.
Hannah Shamblin spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on ten hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in ten consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ayva Veltri, who scored a run and stole a base while going 4-for-4. Those four hits gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Katelyn Board, who scored a run while going 4-for-5.
Hoover kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in six consecutive matches.
Hoover's victory bumped their record up to 12-2. As for Wahama, their win bumped their record up to 14-2.
Wahama's speedy runners might be the difference in Saturday's game. The White Falcons have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Hoover, though, as they've been averaging only 0.9 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will Wahama continue to outrun the ball?
