The Douglass Astros's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fourth straight loss. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 48-47 to Northgate. While losing is never fun, Douglass can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 328th, while Northgate is ranked 147th).
It was another big night for DeAsia Stinson, who scored 16 points along with seven rebounds and six steals for Northgate. Stinson is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Holly Metz was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Douglass' loss dropped their record down to 6-5-1. As for Northgate, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Douglass will be home for the holidays to greet North Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. North Springs is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. Northgate will be home for the holidays to greet Lamar County at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Lamar County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five contests.
