Basketball Recap: Bryant Scales Key Part of a Team Effort in Silverbacks Win

After losing to Rehoboth Christian the last time they met, Legacy Academy decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Legacy Academy Silverbacks narrowly escaped with a victory as the team sidled past the Rehoboth Christian Lynx 53-50. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Silverbacks have posted since February 22, 2024.

Legacy Academy's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryant Scales, who posted 17 points in addition to six boards and four steals. Scales' evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Tavarez, who had eight points along with ten rebounds and three steals.

Legacy Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Legacy Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-3. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.3 points per game. As for Rehoboth Christian, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-6 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Legacy Academy will host East Mountain at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Rehoboth Christian, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Alamo Navajo at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
