Basketball Recap: Maplewood Sets Scoring Season-High Against Windham

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Maplewood). They took their game on Saturday with ease, bagging a 70-5 victory over the Windham Bombers. The win was nothing new for the Rockets as they're now sitting on five straight.

Maplewood's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Morgan Himes, who went 8-for-17 en route to 17 points in addition to eight assists and five steals. Himes is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in each of the last ten games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aliah Brumit, who posted 18 points along with six boards and three steals.

Himes wasn't the only one working in the assist department: Maplewood was working as a unit and finished the game with 21 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Maplewood's win was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-2. Those victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 29.5 points over those games. As for Windham, they have traveled a rocky road recently having lost 13 of their last 14 matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-19 record this season.

Maplewood has already played their next contest, a 68-16 victory against Wellsville on the 18th. Windham does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
