Brooke Bowers was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only one hit while striking out eight over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI and one triple. That triple was her first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Sydney Schlachter, who went 4-for-5 with three runs, three RBI, and two doubles. Those doubles were her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Brooklyn Vascik, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
St. Ursula Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. They are a perfect 3-0 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Meanwhile, after only one run in their last match, Notre Dame Academy made sure to put some runs up on the board against St. Joseph Hill Academy on Thursday. The Eagles blew past the Hilltoppers 13-3. The win was some much needed relief for the Eagles as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.
Lily Ogrodowski was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Madi Hager, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Notre Dame Academy's record is now 5-7. As for St. Ursula Academy, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. St. Ursula Academy hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .356. However, it's not like Notre Dame Academy struggles in that department as they've averaged .388. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Everything went St. Ursula Academy's way against Notre Dame Academy in their previous matchup back in May of 2024, as St. Ursula Academy made off with a 15-5 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Arrows since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
