The Woodgrove Wolverines scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Thursday. They enjoyed a cozy 68-52 victory over Lake Braddock. Given Woodgrove's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 119th, while Lake Braddock is ranked 350th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Woodgrove's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jack Hill, who scored 13 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Colin Fuller, who scored 11 points.
Woodgrove pushed their record up to 6-1 with that win, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.5 points per game. As for Lake Braddock, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-6.
Woodgrove and Independence will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024 without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully Independence focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Tuesday. Lake Braddock won't have much time to rest: their next game is against Archbishop Rummel at 5:45 p.m. on December 29th. Archbishop Rummel knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three contests -- so hopefully Lake Braddock likes a good challenge.
