Basketball Recap: Overton Snags 15th Victory in Last 17 Games

Overton won the last time they faced Mt. Enterprise and things went their way on Friday too. The Overton Mustangs blew past the Mt. Enterprise Wildcats 65-44. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten games by 20 points or more this season.

Overton's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Bryce Still, who went 8 of 15 en route to 21 points along with eight assists and five steals. Those eight assists gave Still a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Rylan Holleman, who went 8 for 14 on his way to 21 points in addition to eight boards and five assists.

Still wasn't the only one working in the assists department: Overton was working as a unit and finished the game with 23 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Mt. Enterprise only racked up 12 assists.

Kaegan Ash and Tanner Wilburn certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Ash went 8 of 13 en route to 19 points and eight rebounds, while Wilburn went 5 for 8 on his way to 10 points. Ash is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last four games he's played.

Overton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-5 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.2 points per game. As for Mt. Enterprise, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-16.

Overton will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Douglass at 7:00 p.m. Douglass will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something Overton surely won't give up without a fight. As for Mt. Enterprise, they will venture away from home to square off against Carlisle at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
