Elyria Catholic scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Monday. They enjoyed a cozy 72-56 victory over Midview. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Isabelle Niederst was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 39 points and ten rebounds. Niederst is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Nevaeh Sawyer, who scored eight points.
Meanwhile, Westlake's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Monday after their fourth straight loss. They fell to Columbia 54-49.
Elyria Catholic is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight matches, which provided a nice bump to their 15-5 record this season. As for Westlake, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-9.
Elyria Catholic beat Westlake 59-48 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Elyria Catholic since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
