Basketball Recap: Pearl-Cohn Falls Despite Big Games from Javion Kinnard and Ladamion Hunter

After flying high against East Robertson last Tuesday, Pearl-Cohn came back down to earth. The Pearl-Cohn Firebirds fell 69-57 to the Battle Ground Academy Wildcats on Friday. The Firebirds were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Wildcats apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2016.

LaDamion Hunter and Javion Kinnard certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Hunter posted 15 points along with six boards and three steals, while Kinnard earned 15 points. Kinnard's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brian Jones, who had five points.

With the loss, Pearl-Cohn broke their three-game winning streak and moved their record to 3-1. As for Battle Ground Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won six of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season.

Pearl-Cohn wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 77-51 defeat against Goodpasture Christian on the 21st. Battle Ground Academy has also already played their next game, an 82-54 victory against Silverdale Academy on the 21st.
