DeWitt came tearing into Thursday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 11.8 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the McGehee Owls a 6-0 shutout. The result was nothing new for the Dragons, who have now won 11 games by six runs or more so far this season.

DeWitt's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 17-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.6 runs on average over those games. As for McGehee, they are on a four-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-8.

We've got plenty of inter-conference action coming up soon. DeWitt will challenge rival Rison at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Dragons 2.9, the Wildcats 2.3) so any runs scored will be well earned. Meanwhile, McGehee is set to square off against their familiar foe Central at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
