Basketball Recap: Interlachen Takes a Loss

Interlachen was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. The match between them and the Union County Fightin' Tigers didn't end well, with the Interlachen Rams falling 74-55. The Rams were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Fightin' Tigers apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in January of 2024.

When it comes to explaining why Interlachen lost, don't look at Kemontae Nixon. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 21 points and 19 boards. What's more, Nixon also racked up four steals, the most he's had since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Terrance Haynes, who posted ten points.

Even though they lost, Interlachen smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 19 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in four consecutive games.

Gavin Jenkins continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines for Union County, almost dropping a double-double on 21 points and nine steals. Jenkins has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyrese Chandler, who went 8 for 11 en route to 16 points.

Interlachen's defeat dropped their record down to 10-12. As for Union County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.

Interlachen has already played their next matchup (against Bell), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Union County has already played their next game, a 65-47 win against Baker County on the 25th.
