Graham had lost seven straight on the road, but on Friday they dropped down to 4-14 to make it eight. They lost 19-1 to the Pulaski County Cougars. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Cougars this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 16-0 back in March.
Graham saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grady Mullins, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
As for Pulaski County, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 9-7. That 18-run margin sets a new team best for them this season.
On Pulaski County's side, Logan Wright made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs off two hits. Wright was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI. Pulaski County is undefeated when Wright posts two or more runs, but 6-7 otherwise.
In other pitching news, Elliott Hutton looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave him a new career-high.
Back at the plate, Kaleb Sartin was a standout: he got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and one RBI. He has been hot recently, having posted at least one triple the last three times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Seth Carter, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI.
Coming up, Graham is taking a road trip to challenge Marion at 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Pulaski County, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Christiansburg at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
