The Lutheran Lions's game back in December of 2023 was a tough loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. They walked away with a 53-46 win over University. The victory was all the more spectacular given Lutheran's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 94th, while University is ranked 27th).
Lutheran found their leader in underclassman Berkley Schneider, who scored 26 points along with six rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Schneider has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Jayda Vigil, who scored eight points along with four steals.
Despite the loss, University still got an impressive performance from Addison Harding, who scored 17 points along with eight rebounds. Harding continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Natalie Moore was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with two steals.
Lutheran has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests, which provided a nice bump to their 4-6 record this season. As for University, their loss ended a eight-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Lutheran will take on Severance at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Severance has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last four games. University won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Brush at 7:00 p.m. on January 5th. Hopefully Brush focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 21 on Thursday.
