Tuscarawas Valley has won nine straight games at home (dating back to last season), while Ridgewood has won nine straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Monday. The Trojans will host the Generals at 5:00 p.m. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
Tuscarawas Valley will bounce into Monday's game after beating Garaway, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. The Trojans sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 3-2 victory over the Pirates on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Trojans have posted against the Pirates since April 13, 2022.
The team relied heavily on Elliott Wallick, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI, one run, and one double. Another player making a difference was Hallee Borell, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base and one run.
Meanwhile, Ridgewood posted their closest victory since April 12th on Friday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Buckeye Trail, sneaking past 3-1.
Addison Lahmers made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one double.
Tuscarawas Valley's win bumped their record up to 14-0. As for Ridgewood, their victory bumped their record up to 11-5-1.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Monday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tuscarawas Valley has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 12 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Ridgewood struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.9 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Tuscarawas Valley came up short against Ridgewood when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 5-2. Will the Trojans have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check MaxPreps after the action for a full breakdown of the game and more softball content.
