It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the Atholton Raiders ultimately got the result they hoped for on Monday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 70-67 win over Parkville. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Amir Shaheed continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 29 points along with four steals. The matchup was his fifth in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Bryce Inabinet, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 rebounds.
Parkville's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Mikko Persia, who scored 21 points. The match was Persia's third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Chima Egeonu, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds.
Atholton has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a massive bump to their 6-5 record this season. As for Parkville, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.
Atholton has the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Marriotts Ridge at 5:30 p.m. on January 10th. As for Parkville, they will head out on the road to face off against Hereford at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Hereford is coming into the match on a four-game losing streak.
