Oak Lawn has been on the road for two straight, but on Tuesday they'll finally head home. They will be home for the holidays to greet the Sandburg Eagles at 6:30 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Last Thursday, Oak Lawn came up short against Stagg and fell 49-42. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Oak Lawn has scored all season.
Oak Lawn's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Donte Montgomery, who scored 17 points along with four steals, and Corey Lee who scored 14 points along with six rebounds. Montgomery scored a full 40.5% of Oak Lawn's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Oak Lawn struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Sandburg pushed their score all the way to 58 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 73-58 bruising from Bradley-Bourbonnais. While losing is never fun, Sandburg can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 287th, while Bradley-Bourbonnais is ranked 57th).
Oak Lawn's defeat dropped their record down to 9-1. As for Sandburg, they bumped their record down to 3-5 with that loss, which was their fourth straight at home dating back to last season.
Oak Lawn didn't have too much breathing room in their matchup against Sandburg when the teams last played back in January, but they still walked away with a 54-48 win. Will Oak Lawn repeat their success, or does Sandburg have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
