Monomoy hasn't had much luck against Sandwich recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Sharks will challenge the Blue Knights at 12:00 p.m. Monomoy's pitching crew has only allowed 3.1 runs per game this season, so Sandwich's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Sandwich will be up against a hot Monomoy team: the squad just extended their winning streak to three. Everything went the Sharks' way against Nantucket on Friday as they made off with a 9-3 victory. Considering the Sharks have won three contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Meanwhile, Sandwich gave up the first runs on Wednesday, but they didn't let that get them down. They came out on top against Carver by a score of 7-3. The Blue Knights haven't had any issues with the Crusaders recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.
Matthew Taylor made a splash no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Taylor was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs.
In other pitching news, Braylon Heatley tossed a big game, tossing 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off one hit.
Taylor wasn't the only one making solid contact as seven players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Drew Peters, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and two RBI. Those RBI marked the first that Peters has brought in this season. Another was James Lehane, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Sandwich kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Carver only managed three hits.
Monomoy's record is now 5-1-1. As for Sandwich, the victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 2-4.
Monomoy might still be hurting after the 15-6 defeat they got from Sandwich in their previous matchup back in June of 2021. Can the Sharks avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
