GRAPEVINE, Texas -
Trinity (Euless, Texas) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as
Homer Babcock ran for a touchdown with with 10:00 to go in the third quarter, bringing the team to victory over Grapevine (Texas) 49-15.
The Mustangs pulled ahead on a touchdown run by
Matt Hawkins, and subsequently went into halftime leading 15-14. The Trojans scored the winning points with a touchdown run by Babcock that came in the third quarter.
Trinity secured its victory by scoring 21 points in the fourth quarter to push the final margin to 34.
THS's standout player in the win was Hawkins. The senior quarterback ran for three touchdowns.
Marcus Dempsey made a difference for Grapevine. The junior caught one touchdown.
Coming into the game the Euless school had allowed 18.9 points per game this year.
Last season's game between the teams resulted in a 38-0 win for the Trojans.
The defeat comes as a step back for Grapevine, which notched a 41-10 victory over Turner in its previous outing.
Grapevine (2-6) will play a 5A Region I District 6 game against MacArthur next week, while Trinity (6-2) will take on Irving also in a 5A Region I District 6 game.
