Tyner Academy hasn't had much luck against Marion County recently, but that could start to change on Monday. The Rams will challenge the Warriors at 5:15 p.m. Marion County took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Tyner Academy, who comes in off a win.
Tyner Academy is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They walked away with a 12-8 victory over Howard Tech on Friday.

Ryleigh Chubb made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just one earned (and seven unearned) runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances. He was even better at the plate, going 3-for-5 with two triples, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, D'Terrius Dupree and Dominique Jones did most of the damage at the plate: Dupree scored two runs while going 2-for-3, while Jones scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of his plate appearances. The dominant performance also gave Dupree a new career-high in RBI (two). Another player making a difference was Jaden Isbell, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-4.
Tyner Academy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .553. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Marion County didn't have quite enough to beat Middle Tennessee Monarchs on Saturday and fell 10-8. The Warriors have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Marion County saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Luke Tipton, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one triple. The Warriors are 3-1 when Tipton posts two or more runs, but 7-9 otherwise.
Marion County's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Tyner Academy, their win (their first of the season) made their record 1-10.
Tyner Academy suffered a grim 16-2 defeat to Marion County in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
