Basketball Game Preview: York Cougars vs. Lancaster Bruins

York is 0-10 against Lancaster since January of 2020 but things could change on Wednesday. Both will face off at 7:30 p.m. without much rest having both just played.

York is headed into Wednesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Tuesday. They were dealt an 83-40 loss at the hands of South Pointe. The Cougars were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 42-13.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jackson Rampey, who posted 11 points. Those 11 points gave him a new career-high. Zan Walling was another key player, putting up two points.

Meanwhile, Lancaster came tearing into Tuesday's matchup with 12 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 15.4 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against the Blue Devils by a score of 75-64. Given the Bruins' advantage in MaxPreps' South Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked third, while the Blue Devils are ranked 49th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Lancaster's win came from a few key players York will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jordan Watford, who went 10 of 15 en route to 24 points and five boards. His evening made it 15 games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Columbus Parker, who went 7 for 12 on his way to 19 points and five rebounds.

York's defeat dropped their record down to 3-18. As for Lancaster, they pushed their record up to 18-1 with the victory, which was their eighth straight on the road.

York was taken down by Lancaster 63-23 in their previous matchup back in February of 2024. That contest was all but decided by halftime, at which point York was down 31-9.
