Sadly, the Fort Morgan Mustangs are still looking for their first win of the season after 19 contests. They were beaten by Riverdale Ridge 87-49 on Monday. Fort Morgan was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 51-17.
Several Mustangs players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Charlie Langford, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Langford is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last five games he's played. Brodin Jess was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Even though they lost, Fort Morgan smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 15 offensive rebounds. This was only their 12th loss (out of 12 games) when they hit their own glass that hard.
Riverdale Ridge's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Marcus D mcfadden led the charge by scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and two steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicholas Williams, who scored 15 points.
Fort Morgan dropped their record down to 0-19 with that defeat, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Riverdale Ridge, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 16-3.
Fort Morgan will head out on the road to challenge Roosevelt at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Roosevelt focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 last Saturday. As for Riverdale Ridge, they will be playing at home against Mountain View at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mountain View knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Riverdale Ridge likes a good challenge.
