Baseball Recap: Church Point Wins Going Away Against Marksville

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Delcambre, Church Point was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They were the clear victor by an 11-4 margin over the Marksville Tigers. Considering the Bears have won six matches by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Luke Venable looked comfortable as he tossed 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the first time he hasn't allowed a single hit since back in March of 2024.

At the plate, Keedyn Ragusa and Luke Baudoin did most of the damage at the plate: Ragusa scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances, while Baudoin scored two runs while getting on base in three of his five plate appearances. That's the most runs Ragusa has posted since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Caiden B, who scored a run while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Church Point is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 7-3 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.4 runs over those games. Marksville is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-7.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Church Point will host Lake Charles College Prep at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. As for Marksville, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hornbeck at 1:15 p.m. on Saturday.
