The Pace Academy Knights entered their tilt with the Riverwood Raiders with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Pace Academy slipped by Riverwood 61-60 on Saturday. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Lamar Moore was his usual excellent self, scoring 16 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of MJ Madison, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Despite the loss, Riverwood still got an impressive performance from Karris Bilal, who scored 33 points along with six rebounds and two steals. That was a full 55% of Riverwood's points, marking the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. JR Leonard was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Pace Academy pushed their record up to 13-2 with that win, which was their ninth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.6 points per game. As for Riverwood, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-5.
Pace Academy's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Hiram at 3:00 p.m. on January 15th. Hiram knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past six games -- so hopefully Pace Academy likes a good challenge. Riverwood's road trip will continue as they head out to face Dunwoody at 7:30 p.m. on January 19th. Dunwoody is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak.
