Basketball Recap: The Daniel Academy Takes a Loss

The Daniel Academy and Plaza Heights Christian Academy squared off in some playoff action on Thursday, but The Daniel Academy had to settle for second. They were dealt a 58-29 loss at the hands of Plaza Heights Christian Academy. The contest marked The Daniel Academy's lowest-scoring game so far this season.

Several Lions players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Noah Maldinado, who posted 12 points along with six rebounds and five steals. Maldinado is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played. Noah Lee was another key player, putting up 11 points.

Even though they lost, The Daniel Academy smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Plaza Heights Christian Academy only pulled down eight offensive boards.

Plaza Heights Christian Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Luke Jones, who went 6-for-8 en route to 12 points in addition to five boards and five steals. What's more, Jones also posted a 75% field goal percentage, which is the highest he's achieved since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Remi Schieber, who went 5-for-12 to rack up 13 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

The Daniel Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7. As for Plaza Heights Christian Academy, they are on a roll lately: they've won 15 of their last 16 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 26-7 record this season.

The Daniel Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 46-30 victory against Center Place on the 14th. As for Plaza Heights Christian Academy, they have also already played their next game, a 56-45 loss against Christian Fellowship on the 14th.
