Will Futch was excellent, scoring two runs while going 2-for-2. He is becoming a predictor of Tampa Prep's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 9-10 when he doesn't). The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Brooks, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Seffner Christian). They were the clear victors by a 20-10 margin over Bradenton Christian on Monday.
Seffner Christian also got a great performance from Tyler Tate as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out ten over 4.1 innings pitched. Those ten strikeouts gave Tate a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Brayden Nanns was a standout: he went 2-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. He has been hot recently, having also posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Jenuel Ortiz, who scored three runs and stole two bases while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances.
Seffner Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .595. They are 6-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Tampa Prep pushed their record up to 12-10 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Seffner Christian, their win bumped their record up to 11-8.
Tampa Prep might still be hurting after the 9-1 defeat they got from Seffner Christian in their previous matchup back in March of 2024. Will the Terrapins have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other baseball content.
