The Kingston Buccaneers will head out on the road to challenge the North Mason Bulldogs at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
Things were looking good for Kingston after they put the first runs on the board on Saturday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They fell just short of Lakewood by a score of 4-3.
Kingston saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Chayton Walker, who scored a run and stole two bases while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Izaiah Reynolds also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.
Meanwhile, North Mason got themselves on the board against Vashon Island on Saturday, but Vashon Island never followed suit. They came out on top against the Pirates by a score of 5-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bulldogs.
Boston Stanley made a splash no matter where he played. He struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Stanley was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Chris Arbogast, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-2.
North Mason hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive contests.
North Mason's record now sits at 6-4. As for Kingston, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-5 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Tuesday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Kingston has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.4 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like North Mason struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.5 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Everything went Kingston's way against North Mason when the teams last played back in March of 2024, as Kingston made off with a 9-1 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Buccaneers since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
