The Seffner Christian Crusaders were the 85-69 winner over the Cardinal Mooney Cougars when they last played one another back in December of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Seffner Christian took a 66-54 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cardinal Mooney on Friday. While losing is never fun, Seffner Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 259th, while Cardinal Mooney is ranked 112th).
Connor Heald was his usual excellent self, scoring 25 points for Cardinal Mooney. Heald is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin O'donoghue, who scored 13 points.
Seffner Christian has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-12 record this season. As for Cardinal Mooney, the win was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-7.
Seffner Christian will be playing at home against Sports Leadership & Management at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Sports Leadership & Management has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 400 points over their last five contests. As for Cardinal Mooney, they will head out on the road to challenge Mitchell at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
