Winning is just a little bit easier when you outrebound your opponent 18 to 9 on the offensive boards, a fact the Kermit Yellow Jackets proved on Tuesday. They walked away with a 46-35 victory over Compass Academy. The win made it back-to-back wins for Kermit.
It was another big night for Ebbin Mallory, who dropped a double-double on 15 points and 17 rebounds. MICHAELA CAZARIN was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with seven steals and six rebounds.
When it comes to explaining why Compass Academy lost, one person who can't be blamed is Lindsey Ruiz. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Ruiz has scored all season.
Kermit pushed their record up to 14-12 with that victory, which was their tenth straight at home. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 23.2 points. As for Compass Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.
Kermit will head out on the road to take on Crane at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Crane will be looking to extend their current six-game winning streak. As for Compass Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Alpine at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Alpine focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 18 on Tuesday.
