The Chiefland Indians lost against the Trenton Tigers back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Chiefland was dealt a 59-21 loss at the hands of Trenton. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Chiefland has scored all season.
Chiefland's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Nyasia Bivins, who scored 12 points. The matchup was Bivins' fifth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brianna Bell, who scored five points along with five steals.
Trenton's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Brianna Karanja led the charge by dropping a double-double on ten points and ten rebounds. Karanja has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Koi Perry was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Chiefland's defeat ended a four-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6. As for Trenton, the win (which was their eighth in a row) raised their record to 8-1.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Chiefland will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Oak Hall at 6:30 p.m. on January 5, 2024. Trenton and Branford will face off at 6:30 p.m. on December 18th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Branford will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 570th, while Trenton is ranked 100th).
