Port Clinton is 0-9 against Oak Harbor since May of 2018 but things could change on Saturday. The Redskins are taking a road trip to challenge the Rockets at 10:00 a.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Port Clinton put up the most runs they have all season on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Bowsher a 22-0 shutout. The Redskins haven't had any issues with the BlueRacers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Ashton Sanchez made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 12 over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and four RBI.

In other batting news, Port Clinton let Olivia Emerson and Jae Mazur run wild. Emerson got on base in three of her five plate appearances with one home run and three runs, while Mazur got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Those three runs gave Emerson a new career-high. Bella Belden also deserves some recognition as she brought in her first RBI of the season.
Port Clinton always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .600. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Oak Harbor made easy work of Fostoria on Wednesday and carried off a 10-0 victory. The Rockets might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by six runs or more this season.
Morgan Lalonde was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out eight over five innings pitched. Lalonde was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and one run.
In other batting news, Oak Harbor got a massive performance out of Kaitlyn Meloche, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one double. Hannah Schimmoeller was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Oak Harbor pushed their record up to 12-4 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.0 run on average over those games. As for Port Clinton, the win got them back to even at 7-7.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Saturday. Port Clinton hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.6 home runs per game. However, it's not like Oak Harbor struggles in that department as they've been averaging 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Port Clinton suffered a grim 18-10 defeat to Oak Harbor in their previous matchup back in April of 2023. Can the Redskins avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
