Eaton has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the University Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Eaton posted their biggest victory since December 1, 2023 on Saturday. They blew past Weld Central 72-23 at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 37-6.
Eaton's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Delaney Reuter, who scored 16 points, and Tayla Wiedeman, who scored 19 points. That's the first time this season that Reuter scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Courtney Steinkamp, who scored nine points.
Meanwhile, University waltzed into their contest on Saturday with four straight wins but they left with five. They put the hurt on Valley with a sharp 63-41 victory. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory University has posted against Valley since February 12, 2019.
Natalie Moore and Addison Harding were among the main playmakers for University as the former dropped a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds and the latter scored 20 points along with five rebounds and three steals. Moore also posted two blocks for the first time this season. Janay Kravig was another key contributor, scoring six points along with nine assists and three steals.
Eaton has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matches, which provided a massive bump to their 8-5 record this season. As for University, their win bumped their record up to 12-2.
Wednesday's game will pit two of the most dominant forwards against one another: Wiedeman and Harding. Wiedeman has been dynamite this season: she has averaged 14.3 points and 2.3 steals. For her part, Harding has averaged 12.2 points, 2.4 steals, and 1.4 blocks.
Keep an eye on the arc in Wednesday's game: Eaton have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.1 threes per game. It's a different story for University, though, as they've been averaging only 3.4 threes per game. Given Eaton's sizeable advantage in that area, University will need to find a way to close that gap.
