Central State Eight recap Oct. 9, 2012
Garret Dooley of Rochester ran for the longest rushing play in Central State Eight this season against Southeast last week. Dooley's team topped the Spartans as he sprinted for 82 yards on the play and finished with 195 in all.
Rochester extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Southeast, 55-12. The win marks fifth in a row for the Derek Leonard's team.
Jacksonville's dynamic duo of Zac Lonergan and Reggie Bratton proved tough for Taylorville to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Lonergan threw for 258 yards and two touchdowns and Bratton had 135 yards receiving. Blake Hance helped Jacksonville's passing attack out by catching five balls for 83 yards.
Austin Green provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Rockets defeated Elbert Kerns' team. He completed 13 passes for 193 yards and one touchdown and also ran for 55 yards. Green's favorite target this week was Blake Pasley, who caught four passes for 77 yards.
Thanks to the talents of Green and Dooley Rochester has been able to do all sorts of things on offense. Green leads the league in passing with 1722 yards, while Dooley has rushed for 636 yards this season. The Crimsons' Bratton leads the league in receiving yards with 785 on 37 catches.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Sacred Heart-Griffin takes on Glenwood. At the moment, the Cyclones are in first, while the Titans are in third.
Sacred Heart-Griffin took down Lincoln 62-14 last week, the largest margin of any game.
