The Horizon Hawks scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Friday. Everything went their way against Boulder as Horizon made off with a 66-45 victory. Given Horizon's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 17th, while Boulder is ranked 129th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Morgan Ives was her usual excellent self, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and five steals. The match was her third in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Ella Waufle, who scored 15 points.
Boulder's defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lexi Oder, who scored 14 points along with three steals. Another player making a difference was Megan Matthews, who scored ten points along with nine rebounds.
Horizon's victory was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.9 points per game. As for Boulder, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-5.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Horizon will take on Broomfield at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Broomfield focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Friday. As for Boulder, they will be playing at home against Mountain Range at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
