After a string of three wins, the Howard Hawks's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 36-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Cottage. Howard has struggled against the Cougars recently, as their game on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
When it comes to explaining why Howard lost, one person who can't be blamed is Ava Beck. Despite the final result, she scored 15 points. That was a full 50% of Howard's points, marking the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Alyssa Briggs was her usual excellent self, almost dropping a triple-double on 21 points, 13 rebounds, and nine steals for Cottage. Briggs has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Gabby Pressnall, who scored 13 points.
Howard's loss dropped their record down to 7-5. As for Cottage, they pushed their record up to 12-6 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Tapestry Charter the next time they take the court. Cottage will host Tapestry Charter at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Howard will head out to face them at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
