Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Cherokee). They enjoyed a cozy 67-48 win over the Volunteer Falcons on Friday. That's more bragging rights for the Chiefs, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Despite the loss, Volunteer still got an impressive performance from Lucas Gilliam, who went 6 of 8 en route to 14 points and four steals. Gilliam is also on a roll when it comes to blocks, as he's now posted two or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Griffin Head, who posted nine points.

Cherokee's victory bumped their record up to 2-7. As for Volunteer, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-7.

Cherokee will venture away from home to challenge Hancock County at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Volunteer, they will welcome Sullivan East at 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
